Lovely cozy place perfect for a quick bite or a glass of wine
好喜歡這裡，在頭城能夠有這麼特別的地方還有綜合的起司盤可以吃搭配，進來感覺好像在另一個時空會讓人想放空，老闆很有趣是會講中文的外國人很熱情，下次來頭城一定還要再來
Great place to have a drink and a snack while waiting for the train. It has a decent wine selection, and some beers. The food is tasty and tends to be pies, quiches, salads and cakes. They also have some good cheese and cold cut offerings. Great for a cheese and wine afternoon snack.
The Thirsty Owl is such a perfect addition to Toucheng’s F&B scene.
Check out the amazing Salami /Brie Sub paired with a succulent NZ white wine.
Oh, and the chocolate fondant… 😋

Cozy and friendly place . It feels like you have been invited for dinner to someone home. The cook / owner is very kind and takes the time to explain the history of the recipe. The food is awesome. This is the perfect place to gather with friends or for a nice date. As this is a place where you can actually talk and that’s important. So bring that date of yours and thank me later.

Enjoyed the Thirsty Owl so much! It’s located conveniently close to Toucheng train station. There’s parking next-door, but I don’t suggest driving as the wine is fabulous! Had the cab/sav that went perfectly with the generous charcuterie board and the excellent meat pies. We ended up splittling one of each pie they were so good! It’s so relaxing here, comfy seating and very cool decor, that you could easily spend all day or night here. The owner, Anje, really took such nice care of us! Excellent service and great conversation, and her homemade pickles were amazing! All around great experience. Can’t wait to go back!

This place is the best hang out you will ever have as it captures the history of Toucheng and a cultural infusion. Excellent food and wine, very respectable prices. The owner is extremely thoughtful and friendly. We came back twice in one day. Totally worth it!

Not gonna lie, that chocolate cake is no joke delicious and the boss lady is great. The space is so comfortable it was hard getting out. We didn’t want to leave and she had to vacuum around us.

You don’t normally run into a place like this. Everything is enjoyable and one of a kind. The owner has set high standards on many aspects, except prices are lovely. You can’t help wondering if she runs this place simply for fun. The vibe is cozy and relaxed, feeling like going to a friend’s house, definitely worth visiting.

Had friends visited this weekend and brought them here. I am so appreciated there is such an amazing place in town. Nice vibe, owner, decoration, fair price drinks and of course AC! Would definitely come back again and try their here here next time!

112/7月，晚餐後的第二攤～白天是咖啡廳，晚上是酒吧！
老闆娘是外國人，週五的晚上客人也是外國人居多，老宅外觀店內氛圍很好！店面不大但可容納二十幾位客人！酒品單價不高，三五好友小酌好去處！

This has to be the coolest spot in all of Toucheng. The Thirsty Owl is a small and cozy watering hole just a stones throw away from the Toucheng railroad station. The owner is super chill and originally from South Africa. She speaks perfect Chinese and has all kinds of great stories to share. Stop in for a bite to eat and a glass of nice red or white wine. The wine menu has a good selection of wines from around the world. I highly recommend this place if you want to relax and spend an evening with friends, chatting over a drink or two.

What a wonderful experience. The owner Anje, is a jol, kind, fun and inviting. The wine is divine, tequila is cold, pies are delicious (not South African but still amazing) and the biltong fabulous. The house, is beautiful and inviting…find the door and you’re welcome 😂. I highly recommend the Thirsty Owl.

Just a 30 seconds walk from the train station you can walk into Toucheng’s ultimate fusion cafe/pub/lounge… I don’t even know in which category I can put it. Maybe the owl defines it’s own category and that’s mainly because of Anje, who runs this place.
Come for afternoon tea, stay for a wine in the early evening, enjoy a beer while listening to some random stranger who just grabbed the guitar and shares some of his favorite songs.
The interior of this traditional Japanese house just sucks you into a cosy atmosphere you don’t want to leave anymore.
So is it a cafe? Yes, it is!
But is it also a lounge? Oh… definitely!
And of course it’s also a cute little pub… and one that you can’t find anywhere else in Taiwan!

Super convenient location just a few steps from Toucheng train station (the entrance is on the side facing the train station rather than the side facing the street). The proprietress is not only super welcoming, but she has even managed to create an actual community around this café/bar, which really makes this place stand out compared to most other faceless establishments in the region. The support staff are also great, too. The food is yummy, there is an extensive drinks menu (both alcohol and other beverages), and all for really reasonable prices. The building itself has a lovely historic-feel with cozy interiors that create a seaside vibe with a local Taiwanese touch (I particularly like the dimmable lights — no harsh office lighting here!). Highly recommended!

This place is a blend of a Netherlands and Taiwanese coffee shop.
I brought my Dutch mother here with my family for her birthday, and she hasn’t stopped singing its praises.
The owner is very welcoming and makes you feel like family.
Both the food, drinks and energy of this place makes you want to stay forever. Whether it’s a great night out and laughs with friends or a place to wind down look no further.

Super fun and cozy bar in a historical Japanese building. Can’t beat this location, right next to train station, you can take train here and drink without had to worry about driving. It’s a nice place to hang out and get some drinks. Super friendly atmosphere. You will soon discover that this is a local expat hangout spot. Mix with many different nationality. Interesting conversations.

A truly unique hidden treasure. Always great vibes and delicious food. The local foreigners’ hangout. Chances are you will make a friend or two while all enjoying Angie and Aletia’s fun company. Most enjoy going for a drink, yet it is still laid back enough to bring kids too. The biltong and food are all legit. I am South African, I can attest to it.
